I called to see how you were going
to connect with a being I love
but all you could do was gossip
to listen was more than enough
Refusing to join in your tirades
I sensed your confusion and hurt
at my not playing along
with the same old songs
as you dug in the mongering dirt
You share pure hear-say as gospel
make assumptions that are way out there
Your second hand views
Would frankly amuse
If I didn’t know more or not care
The Buddha shared truths that he
gifted
to help us to seek and to see
that such unkind ways
lead to suffering days
and a love that cannot soar free
